The Worst Blogger Ever

Yes, that's probably me.  I have a blog, but I don't write in it very often.  It's somewhat pathetic that my last blog entry was titled "2009 is off to quite a start" and it's now halfway through July.  I'll try and do better and give you guys something new to read!  Perhaps some comments would help.  I know I've got quite a few readers, but I rarely get a comment.  *nudge*nudge*

Musically, the summer has been fantastic so far.  I've played some great shows and there are more on the way.  My monthly residency at Contour afterhours has been incredible and even epic at times.  My June gig there was packed to the gills with people dancing and cheering.  It was an important night for me.  The previous two had been great as well, but not to this level.  I consciously made an effort to change my musical flow for the night, and it worked out extremely well.  Afterhours is a different animal, and although this is my 3rd "tour of duty" at Contour afterhours, it still takes a little while to adjust to different clientele, different states of mind at 2am (versus 10pm or midnight), and a different venue.  This weekend, I'll be back, and I hope to blow the lid off again.

Next weekend (July 25th), I'm back at the See Sound Lounge with Scott Keith.  Along with my afterhours residency at Contour, the See Sound Lounge is my other favorite gig.  I'll have my new portable audio recorder by then, and that means I'll have new mixes regularly available for download.  Finally!

The other thing I'm excited about is that I ordered Ableton 8 Suite.  I also just reformmated by PC with Windows 7, and I am very impressed.  I thought about purchasing a Mac, but I couldn't justify the expense.  Windows 7 is vastly improved over Vista, and so far I like it more than XP as well.  I feel like I'm finally to the point where I'm going to dedicate significant time to music production.  I've been wrong about that before, so this time let's hope I'm right!
